Q: What does your training regime look like?
A: My training is comprised of two major parts, paddling and gym. Most of the time, I do ten training sessions per week, eight on the water and 2 in the gym.
Q: In the lead up to a competition, how do you prepare?
A: In the time preceding a competition, I try to charge up, mentally and physically, to be as fresh as possible on the starting line. Usually, in the ten days before the competition, I don't do much training, only what is necessary to stay in shape.
Q: How do SKINS compression garments help you in training, competition and recovery?
A: I haven't used the SKINS compression garments in a competition so far, but I used them a lot in training, almost every day. I feel great wearing SKINS, and if I feel good, I can push myself to a new level. During the high-intensity training sessions, I feel that my muscles are well supported, giving me the confidence I need to keep going. For recovery, I use long tights, which help in reducing the soreness after the workout.
Q: Do you have anything unique to your training regime?
A: I don't have any training partners, and I'm always trying to beat yesterday's performance.
Q: Do you have any superstitions/ pre-competition rituals?
A: I don't have any superstitions or rituals; I just try to repeat in competition what I usually do in training.
Q: What do you think separates you mentally from other athletes?
A: Probably perseverance. No matter the outcome, I will keep going.
